When there was a prescription filled, she was told they would call. They sent a follow up email which they asked if we had any follow questions in. I thought email would be a quick and easy way for them to respond so, asked about the progress of the medication. We didn't hear back again for a few more days. It wasn't until until we called in again 4 days later, which they replied that the prescription was filled 4 days ago.

Not what it once was. We previously referred anyone we could to Kem Rd. They were wonderful, helpful, quick and answered any and all of our questions. Dr. Ratliff left about 2 years ago and we have seen a decline in service since then. When we recently had a problem with one of our pups we scheduled an appointment. My wife waited about 40 minutes to see the doctor. The doctor did not answer my wife's questions.

Worst veterinary in Marion, confirmed appointment and they canceled because we did not call in morning of appt to say we were coming. They have gone down since original doctors retired

I took my cat to Kem who I knew was struggling with crystals in his urine. I have had cats my whole adult life (I'm 51) and I have dealt with urinary crystals in my males many times over the years. It is usually a simple antibiotic and a muscle relaxer/pain killer to help them pass the crystals without much pain. I was told that my cat would be given a syringe cocktail of some potent pain killer, muscle relaxer that would make him loopy for at least 24 hours but should subside considerably afterward. Not only was my cat loopy, but he could barely walk he was so wobbly. His eyes were hyper dilated for 4 straight days. After the 3rd day of this, he was still not normal and I was getting freaked out. The vet told me that he must be a super sensitive cat (which I told them he was) and that this would wear off. Day 4 is when he started to return back to normal. UNACCEPTABLE. I told them that I would not give him anymore of the cocktail and asked for a refund of the medicine that I did not use. They only gave me a 75% refund because the meds could not be used again. Ok, not my fault but I had no other choice.

We take all of our animals here. We usually have great service. Can be overbooked sometimes.

Same cat a couple of months later of being on urinary food there was no change in his behavior (peeing outside of the box). I wanted to test for the crystals again. My cat was also breathing irregular so they took an xray and found a mass on his lung (hence peeing outside the box). They instructed me to go to Alexandria vet hospital to get an ultrasound to find out specifically what the mass was. I went to Alexandria and the vet there said that an ultrasound cannot tell what the mass is and was confused as to why I was sent there in the first place. But he was able to tell me from the xray that my cat had advance stage cancer. WASTED TRIP. Not really because the vet at Kem couldn't/wouldn't tell me what the mass could have been. I had to decide to put my little man down. I called Kem and asked them how much to euthanize and cremate and it was a whopping $200. OMG. I called Southway and they quoted $90 WITH a sedative.

Very rarely do I leave comments, much less negative ones, but I will be as fair as I can in this review.

We are very comfortable with the our dog gets here. Everyone is friendly.

My cat was over medicated and under diagnosed and I was charged exorbitantly for it. I will never go back. The only positive experience was in dealing with Aubrey. She is a great front desk presence!

Recently, my other male cat got crystals (even with urinary food ... ugh) and took him to Southway. I was given antibiotics, a muscle relaxer (pill form) and he was golden in 10 days and the cost was one quarter what I was charged at Kem ... hmmmm

When my wife expressed disappointment in the lack of communication they dismissed the issue. We had never experienced anything like this when we first started Kem Rd. I wish I had better things to say and I could continue to refer people there but I can't in good conscience .
